We are home. We have THE BOOK.

Update #1: Boudreaux read to us on the 45 minute trip home. Just the process of hearing my very own 9 year old read aloud to me almost made me cry.

Once short people were in bed at 2 AM, I read them about 10 pages, to the end of the second chapter. Bumpus then threw a stick for me to go fetch and while I was distracted, grabbed THE BOOK.

While the rest of us sensible nutcases went to bed, Bumpus stayed up until AFTER 5 AM reading THE BOOK. He got about 1/3 of the way through the book.

Boudreaux, who at 9 years old is a more proficient reader than his mother, now has firm posession of THE BOOK...on a VIDEO GAME DAY, no less! Rufus and I are awaiting the post owl, who is bringing us a second copy.

Update #2:

Bumpus finished the book last night at 11 PM.

Boudreaux finished it at 4:15 today.

Cat Crap called at 4:30 to say she had finished it.

Fatty Jr. called at 9 PM to say she had finished it.

I am on page 544.

I'm scared to watch the news (Bye Bye Perky Couric!), scared to read the paper, scared to eavsdrop in the grocery, scared of Bumpus talking in his sleep...scared that somebody is going to spoil it for me! And the damnedest part is that I can't drink any cheap boxed wine cause then I just want to do a little happy dance and go to sleep.

Everybody needs to SHUT UP so I can read!
